Explore unique small towns of America with hosts Jann & Rodney as they participate in local events!
In our special “Salute to Veterans” we visit Comfort Farms. Established by Army veteran L. Jonathan Jackson, it provides a back to nature approach to prepare veterans for careers in sustainable food production where they serve self, team, and community through nourishing the land, stimulating the economy, and expanding the availability of quality food in local communities. Then we salute Flags of Valor, the maker of handcrafted American flags and goods. Jann and Mallory try to earn their stripes inside this veteran owned and operated business that gives back millions to help our military heroes. We also meet a Vietnam veteran who ‘gave both of his legs to America’ while serving as a marine. His life post-Vietnam has been one of amazement and we honor him on this Veterans Day.

We take you to a hidden German gem in the heart of the American prairie—the Amana Colonies. Founded in the mid-1800s, this 26,000-acre communal society is one of the longest-lasting in the world. In the 1930s, they opened their doors to visitors and began selling handcrafted goods, a tradition that continues today. Rodney attempts to learn their distinctive form of German while exploring these remarkably preserved villages, where history and craftsmanship still thrive.

Sad that so much of their products are shipped in from other states/countries. But still a great place to visit.
Rolling Across Iowa
Every year, thousands of cyclists from across the U.S. and beyond pedal their way across Iowa. Demand is so high that organizers now cap participation at 8,500 and hold a lottery for entry. Jann and Rodney hit the route to meet some of the ride’s most colorful characters (Team Spam, anyone?) and dive into quirky small-town traditions along the way. Would you post some info on what TV stations in southern California carry this program? We used to catch it on Sunday 0430 wee hours CBS/KCAL Los Angeles --- but it's disappeared from there.
